This week has just been one bad thing after another. On Monday, in the middle of shooting my time lapse, my camera decided that it would no longer move my mirror when I trigger the shutter so all of my images just turn out completely black. As a result, my time lapse was about 30 seconds shorter than the requirement (yikes). I spent all week editing that stupid Memphis picture for Matt only for the bookstore to not have any big paper all week so I never got that assignment printed. On Saturday night, I got a speeding ticket from a cop in an unmarked car on the highway, goodbye savings account. And, the cherry on top of this week, this morning I fell down the stairs and I now have bruises all down my right thigh. The one good thing to come from this week is that I finally have a functioning phone again after the logic board in mine died three weeks ago. I am so ready to say good riddance to this week and start fresh tomorrow. Anyway, here are some pretty pictures for you to look at instead of all my complaining.

My younger sister, Paley, graduated from high school last weekend and thinking about it is so strange, I can’t believe how quickly the last two years have flown by. Even though she is the younger sibling she’s always been the “leader” between the two of us. I’ve always thought she was much cooler and smarter than me but if anyone ever told her that I would deny it to the grave. She’s always had a flair for the dramatic so, true to form, in the Fall she will be attending Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Add much braver than me to that list, the thought of going to school in a different country, let alone a part of that country where they speak a different language, would terrify me but it was practically the only option that she considered. We’ll just have to wait and see if she can handle the cold, that might be one of the few things I’m better at than her.

Last weekend a bunch of my hometown friends came to visit me and stayed at my apartment for a few days. It was great because we rarely ever get to see each other in big groups like that seeing as everyone is spread out up and down the East Coast for college. We had a ton of fun, it was like a three day long sleepover. On Saturday we all went to the zoo and I got to take some pictures just for fun, which I find myself doing less and less these days. These are a few of my favorite shots.

These are the pictures that I took for Matt’s fruit bowl assignment a year apart. The one on the left is from 2018 and the one on the right is from a few days ago. Looking at these images side by side should show how much I’ve grown in my abilities over the past year but I think it shows a regression. When I took the first photo I was at a point where I was taking photos almost every day and learning new techniques and new equipment every week. The second photo is after only about three months back into taking photos on a semi-regular basis and I think it’s really obvious. When I flunked out of this program last summer I didn’t touch my camera again for months afterwards because I hated taking photos, and I was also mad at myself for failing, and it really shows is the second photo how out of practice I am.

What’s up gang? I’m Paige, I’m 20, and this is my second try at my first year at RCC. So far I think it’s going a lot better than the first try seeing as I haven’t failed any classes, yet, so fingers crossed I can keep up that streak. Anyway, I’m from Huntersville, right outside of Charlotte, but now I live in Asheboro. I have one younger sister named Paley, who’s about to graduate high school, and I have a Bichon Frise named Lucky. Here’s some fun facts about me: I love horror movies, I’ve seen Weezer live 4 times (and they just keep getting better), I played volleyball for 6 years and swam competitively for over ten years, and one time Dale Earnhardt Jr’s wife almost hit me with her car. Oh yeah, and I like photography.
